“a road that looks
like a face
ruined as if
it said have a good day
or something of the sort I am
a connoisseur of roads I've
tried roads my whole life
this road that never
ends probably
goes on around the world”

Sagittarius A*

on the other side
of the call, the voice was just like
a heavy steamroller blackened by excessive
use, chunks of asphalt and grease stuck
to its form it's as if beneath the surface
of the desert time had stopped at the moment
I remembered the instant coffee I had made
earlier, with ice-cold water even
in which pieces of the future were piling up
at the bottom of the shine
geometric and sharp, of the glass tumbler at its center it has a mass of roughly
four million times that of the sun, determined directly from the observation of stellar
orbits from the cracked hole comes
the concentrated weight of reality in the question
of a sphinx — that still had no face
but only a voice — spiraling eccentrically that is to say
who am Ishe says, crossing through the phone light years
away, while the information contained in her mouth
was condensed and translated by the electrical noise of the components
of inorganic matter that made up the structure of the phone now look
here, a stellar black hole is formed by the gravitational
collapse of a massive star (larger
than about 10 times the mass of the Sun) at the end of its lifetime
(understood as its stellar fusion reactions) all these events
took place while — under the telephone's dark sky —
her nails were bitten from despair and anguish and scattered in the hope
that any one of us might know how to piece back together
some of those fragments that traveled
in the time of a black box
